Education goals

Mechanical engineering requires complicated combinations of technological components on basic principles, which lead to the creation of sophisticated systems and advanced functional materials. Therefore, nurture of students must be reinforced to develop their scientific sensitivity for the understanding and application of basic principles, and to adapt to global technological innovations. This emphasis enables our education to enhance the integration of the component technology based on science, the design technology inducing functions of components, and the production technology harmonizing environments with society and subsequently, to create sophisticated systems and advanced functional materials. Consequently, we cultivate human resources in the form of engineers and researchers with practical and academic expertise in the global society.

Education goals

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, while laying the foundations on physical phenomenon analysis ranging from micro to macro, is reinforced via studies on basic scientific technologies, which design the integrated and sophisticated systems, ranging from micromachine to massive construction. Furthermore, mechanical engineering education builds on materials science, which is related to the origin of diverse characteristics such as the dynamic characteristics of solid materials. We provide education, developing functions and construction materials in harmony with global environments, examining the methods to manufacture and process these developed materials, exploring the utilization systems of ocean space with a macro engineering approach related to the utilization of energy in ocean space and the designs of movable bodies and ocean architecture. We studiously cultivate creative global leaders in the form of engineers and researchers with practical and academic expertise.
